Plot:
'Varna', a fictional love story, makes a feeble attempt at showing how a love freak helps a faraway male-chauvinistic world to have its first love story.
The Director's Angle:
The director seems to have tried to execute a fictional thought that when a person(or may be only the one deeply in love with some one) dies, he/she doesn't really die. ***SPOILERS*** And He/she gets teleported to another world.
Strong Point:
The indirect reference to how world needs love(which lost to mediocre storyline), besides some good animation work.
Logic:
The basic fictional logic that carries the film lacks completeness. Also the actions of different characters in the other world are so illogical and without purpose.
Music:
Songs are good enough while the background score is satisfactory but lacked the push from the scenes.
'Critic'al View:
The first half of the film is very slow and filled with an unknown sense of sadness that may make one feel like 'come on guys, spill out the dialogues already' or even like 'Koi mar gaya kya'. The love story is not lively at all to make an impression upon the audience. They appear to be in some kind of spell, delivering dialogues without any real emotions similar to people in a film 'Equilibrium(2002),' where they were not allowed to feel, by law.
Except for some decent fighting scenes, the other half too is unmoving and fails to grip its acts together with numerous casual characters. ***SPOILERS*** The character of the supposed leader of enemy group is too underdeveloped and weak to even heckle the protagonist.
All in all, its a dumb act, to say the least.
Sidelines:
- 'Varna' is not the protagonist in the film, as the title suggests. It's just a bid to reach more audience it seems.
- It can be observed that the physical look of characters overshadowed the illogical storyline.
Who can watch:
Any one who can't avoid watching it(like me).
Movies with similar Storyline:
In some ways, it did remind me of the film 'Cloud Atlas(2009)'
